Happy New Year and welcome to the latest round up of lateral partner moves in the London legal market from Edwards Gibson where we look back at partner-level recruitment activity in London over the past two months and give you a ‘who’s moved where’ update.
Our last update saw the resurgence of real estate as a thriving practice area for recruitment in London, with increased activity also reflected in related construction, projects and planning areas. This trend has shown no signs of abating and partners with commercial property expertise remain desirable targets for recruitment; indeed, nearly a third of the hires mentioned in our round up are in real estate, construction or projects. Whilst real estate remains the standout for growth, the last two months have also served to demonstrate more general improvement in London’s legal market. Compared to the same period 12 months ago, when 2013 began amid fears of a triple-dip recession and a currency crisis, lateral movement at partner level has seen an increase of 26%. Attention remains focused on the London legal market from across the Atlantic, with 29% of firms included in this report headquartered in the US or Canada.
