After a flurry of high-profile hires and a record year (after a previous record year) the Munich office of this prodigious US firm is ready to launch an IP/Trademarks practice. You will immediately be part of a global practice group, which is important for support, access and management buy in from fellow IP lawyers. That, and flexible charge out rates, has allowed some other ‘less US firm’ practice areas to flourish in the European offices.

You will be part of one of the largest global IP practices with over 200 lawyers, representing a number of global brands across multiple industry sectors. Some of the firm’s key clients (and clients of the IP team) individually generate in excess of $50 million per year. The firm is building a European IP practice covering the full range of trademarks and brand protection. Firmwide, the firm’s IP lawyers have won several awards and a number are consistently listed in the WTR 1000. This law firm has a well-developed European office network with a plan to hire IP lawyers in key locations, starting in Munich.

London, which has a well-regarded IP practice and a still relatively small team of lawyers, provides a great opportunity for a partner or team to join forces from the Munich office and develop a directories-leading practice. There is also a succession element; the current European head of IP has a bountiful practice and a plan to potentially step back a bit over the next five years. This hire is to position someone to take over the role, integrate with the clients and be immediately visible on a global stage.
