Head of Corporate – US Firm to $1.6 million Back to List

2020 would have been a great year to join this firm. The firm actively recruited from the beginning of the pandemic. Prudently run, the firm management kept a close key on cashflow in the early part of 2020. They remained confident in the strategy and performance of practice areas, which are well hedged for uncertain economic climates. The firm has a number of destination practice areas, which are net-exporters of work, and a strong litigation practice that has won substantial matters in 2020. This means the firm not only had an increase in revenue in 2020 but an outstanding increase in profit. As a lead corporate partner you have not yet missed the boat, the firm is maintaining a strong trajectory for 2021, the London and European offices are at the beginning of transformative growth. The London office has posted rising fee income from European clients with significant referral work from the US (which accounted for almost 50% of new matters opened in 2020).

Background to the hire: the office has always had a corporate practice but arguably not quite the right one. The firm advises public, private, and high net worth individuals on corporate matters – corporate finance, M&A, private equity and securities. Clients range across several industry sectors including – financial services, insurance, technology, communications, healthcare, rail/transportation, electronics, blockchain, manufacturing.

You will run the corporate department in London and be immediately integrated with the US. You will benefit from being part of a US firm with access to major US clients. The firm also has a great track record in hiring teams.
