In-House Family Office General Counsel, to £300,000 Back to List

A substantial international investment platform and family office is seeking a senior lawyer to assume responsibility for a broad range of legal matters arising from its investment activities and wider operations. The principals are successful entrepreneurs who have built a significant global investment business alongside varied personal and philanthropic interests.

The focus of the role is investment related. You will advise on direct and fund investments, investment structures, co-investments, governance matters and a range of sophisticated commercial arrangements. Unlike many in-house positions, you will be closely involved in commercial decision-making and will enjoy significant exposure to senior stakeholders.

Alongside the investment work, the role encompasses the eclectic legal issues inevitably generated by a substantial international family office. You might, for example, oversee local counsel on real estate acquisitions, construction projects, hospitality investments, staffing matters, wealth-planning and philanthropic activities, operational arrangements and other bespoke projects arising from the principals' activities.

You will have top law firm credentials and likely be either:

• a tax lawyer with experience advising entrepreneurial wealth, family offices and investment structures; or
• a private funds lawyer with sufficient familiarity with private client and tax issues to operate effectively in a family office environment.

You need not be a specialist in both disciplines, but should be comfortable operating at the intersection of private capital and private wealth and capable of leading legal matters across multiple jurisdictions, managing external advisers and overseeing in-house legal resource.
