This well-regarded international UK law firm has built a strong reputation advising private capital clients and is enjoying sustained growth across its corporate, finance and broader transactional practices. This law firm combines a recognised brand, an impressive client base and a pragmatic understanding of where it sits in the market. Rather than attempting to compete with the very largest private equity platforms, it has successfully established itself in the part of the market where sponsors value commerciality, partner access and deep sector knowledge.

The private capital platform is already substantial. The corporate group includes a sizeable contingent of private equity lawyers and is supported by well-established tax, regulatory, funds and finance capabilities. The practice regularly advises sponsors, management teams and portfolio companies on a broad range of domestic and cross-border transactions. Importantly, the firm enjoys genuine credibility with financial sponsors and has developed long-standing relationships across the mid-market private equity community.

Against this backdrop, the firm is seeking to recruit a leveraged finance partner with a predominantly sponsor-side practice. The growth of the private equity client base has created increasing demand for sophisticated acquisition finance capability and the firm needs to strengthen its ability to deliver a fully integrated service to sponsors. This is therefore a strategic hire rather than a replacement role. The successful partner will have the opportunity to work closely with corporate, funds and tax colleagues while helping shape the future direction of the sponsor-side finance offering. 

The ideal partner will already be recognised for advising financial sponsors on acquisition financings, refinancings, recapitalisations and broader private capital transactions. Whilst the firm has plenty of existing relationships and cross-selling opportunities, this is a partner-level role and candidates should be able to demonstrate a track record of developing and maintaining sponsor relationships. Equally important is the ability to collaborate effectively with private equity partners and position finance as a core component of the wider private capital strategy.
