Edwards Gibson Exclusive Data Quoted in Non-Billable’s Article ‘Linklaters hires top Paul Hastings partner as Magic Circle fights back’

Following the departure of Paul Hastings’ London Co-Chair - restructuring partner Mei Lain - to Linklaters, Non-Billable released an article by Oliver Attinger examining the broader implications of this move on the market as a whole and a possible emerging trend of a “somewhat under-the-radar shift of senior talent moving back from US firms to the Magic Circle”. 

The article uses exclusive Edwards Gibson data to illustrate how, in a reversal of flow, the UK Magic Circle has made a significant number of hires from US firms in London this year.

Since January, out of the 17 partner hires (including in-house and non-partners promoted on joining), 13 hires to the Magic Circle were from US law firms - of these 12 were laterals (partner-to-partner) hires. Of note, Mei Lian is the fifth announced lateral departure from Paul Hastings to the Magic Circle so far this year.
